I will be in San Diego all week. Curious about whether other Montana GISers will be there. Might you be attending?

    Hi all,

In past years at the ESRI user conference someone has arranged a "Montana dinner" where a group of Montana attendees has met somewhere in SD for a bite to eat, socializing, and connecting to talk GIS in San Diego.  I arranged it one year and I know Erin arranged it one year also.

I'd volunteer to do it but I am not attending this year so it'll have to be someone else.  However, I do think it's a good idea and helps to give the conference a little bit of a more local feel.   At least one night!  I believe this was done on Tuesday night in the past.

It was a ton of fun and not a lot of work to arrange - basically choicing a cool place to eat and meet, making a reservation, and sending out an email invite.  What I can do to help is provide the list of emails from folks from Montana attending the conference for an e-vite.

    Thanks,

    Bryant

    Hi all,

On Tuesday evening of the conference from 5:30 to 8:00 the NW ESRI Users Group will have a get together at Rock Bottom. It will not be in the official program announcement because we chose to have it somewhere besides the conference center. (Conference Ceneter costs about 4x it does at Rock Bottom!) ESRI has a new policy that all user groups "must" have their event at the conference center or they will receive no assistance from ESRI. I believe there may be an email blast coming out telling you all about the event, but things are a bit messed up this year.

Right now, sponsors for this event are: The NW Users Group, EDS, L-3 Stratus, Geoline, Ascent GIS and Kessler GIS.

The point is that if you're planning a Montana thing, you might want to steer clear of Tuesday. There will be sponsored drinks and munchies on Tuesday. Might as well capitalize on that and see many NW GISers.

    See you all there!

    Like the forum.

I will be attending this year with my co-worker, Janelle Luppen. I have enjoyed the Montana dinners that were set up on Tuesday night. It usually was after the Northwest User Group Meeting. I haven't even heard about the Northwest User Group meeting this year. If they are, could someone fill me in on it. I would appreciate it. If there is going to be a Montana group meeting/dinner, Janelle would love to attend.

    Thanks for the discussion group

I should really re-read everything after I type it. In reference to my late message, Janelle and I would love to attend. Sorry about that.

Two teachers from Lewistown, Suzie Flentie and Kala Flentie and I will be attending the Education Users Conference.  The two teachers will be heading back home on Tuesday afternoon.  I will be around through Thursday. I will be coordinating an informal get together of teachers from South Dakato, North Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana for lunch on one of the days.  If you know of teachers from the region that are attending, I would like to know who they are so, they might be included.

    Hey Folks -

If someone needs tips on organizing the ESRI UC Montana Dinner let me know!  I organized the Montana dinner for 2006, 2007, & 2008.  We had it at some pretty cool locations: Joe's Crab Shack, The Yard House, and the House of Blues.  Two out of the three years I was also able to obtain sponsorship for the first few rounds of drinks!  This is purely a fun event where Montanans get together, network, and have fun!

Any Montana attendees are very welcome to join a small social event I'm holding at my condo very near the conference center. Here's the short blurb on it:

It’s happening again! The ESRI International User Conference in San Diego. I’ve had so many wonderful people join me in the past for my little social event I’m doing it again. Then let’s renew old friendships and make new ones. I invite you to join me at my condo’s pool-side facility with BBQ grill, swimming, Jacuzzi and relaxation.

Time:                       Sunday evening July 11th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Where:                    450 J St. (location map) (click on red marker to get info)

What’s provided: Snacks / refreshments and some sausages to BBQ (you may bring
                                     other BBQ items, sides, refreshments)

Please RSVP: as the space is limited and so I can buy the proper amount of goodies

That evening:  Since the condo is a secure environment and I’ll be at poolside,
please call my cell for entry directions 509-675-0493 (if I don’t answer,
                                try again)

I hope the location map comes through. It's using the Beta ArcExplorer Online. Pretty cool site.

    Bruce
