2010 ELECTED MAGIP BOARD MEMBERS

On the Ballot: Proposed Changes to MAGIP's Bylaws
and Proposed Amendment to MAGIP's Constitution

Proposed Bylaw Change 1:  APPROVED

ARTICLE II - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Proposed change to Section 2 is as follows:

CURRENT wording: "There shall be four (4) at-large members, elected by the Association membership. There shall be one Board member recommended by each of the Association's standing Committees. One member shall be recommended to the Board by the Montana Land Information Advisory Council (MLIAC). The term of this appointment will be coincident with the current appointment to the Council of the member. All recommendations are to be ratified by a majority of the elected members of the Board."

PROPOSED wording: "There shall be four (4) at-large members, elected by the Association membership. There shall be one Board member recommended by each of the Association's standing Committees. One member shall be recommended to the Board by the Montana Land Information Advisory Council (MLIAC). The term of this appointment will be coincident with the current appointment to the MLIAC. In the event that the Board Members' MLIAC term lapses or they leave the MLIAC, the chair of MLIAC will appoint an interim MAGIP representative, and with the approval of the MAGIP Board, that person shall serve until such time as the Council elects a formal representative and that representative is approved by MAGIP. The MLIAC representative may be appointed to the Board for subsequent terms but must be voted on or ratified by the MLIAC and by MAGIP every two years. All recommendations are to be ratified by a majority of the elected members of the Board."

Proposed Bylaw Change 2:  APPROVED

ARTICLE III - OFFICERS

Proposed change to Section 5 is as follows:

CURRENT wording: "The Vice President assumes the duties of President in the absence of the President. He or she performs other duties as the President and Board designate."

PROPOSED wording: "The Vice President assumes the duties of President in the absence of the President. He or she performs other duties as the President and Board designate. The Vice President shall serve as MAGIP Parliamentarian."

Proposed Bylaw Change 3:  APPROVED

ARTICLE XI - SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANT FUNDING

Proposed addition of Section 4 is as follows:

PROPOSED wording: "Section 4. The scholarship subcommittee shall consist of the Education Committee chairperson and at least three (3) other members of the Education Committee."

Proposed Constitutional Amendment*:  PROPOSAL #2 APPROVED

ARTICLE IV - MEMBERS

Proposed amendment to Section 3 is as follows:

CURRENT wording gives a membership renewal date of April 1st annually: "All members shall hold membership from May 1 of one year to April 30 of the following year."

PROPOSAL 1 amends that membership renewal date to January 1st annually: "All members shall hold membership from January 1 of one year to December 31 of that year."

PROPOSAL 2 amends that membership date to be an individual anniversary date based on the date last paid: "All members shall hold membership for one (1) year from their individual anniversary date (where the anniversary date is the date a given members' dues were last paid)."

*You will be given the opportunity to vote to retain the current wording, or accept Proposal 1 or 2.
